After you have heard the pop I suggest using another screwdriver to keep the top and bottom of the system apart. After you have completed the left side, start on the other side and repeat the process. You should now be able to separate the bottom portion of the system. Now lift away the cover of your system and begin the unscrewing process.

Unscrew all the torque screws to be able to remove the cover. Turn over the system and remove the DVD arm and top cover. Next you will want to disconnect the SATA and Power connectors and the DVD will come out of the case. You have now successfully removed your DVD drive from your Xbox and can now remove the plastic air shoots. Reassembly is easy, just follow the steps in reverse.

After installing your modchip you will need to flash the firmware. This usually involves a usb tool for the modchip.
